On November 7th and 8th we were in Berlin, at the Global Social Business Summit 2019, the global forum for social enterprises organized by the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2006, Muhammad Yunus, and by Creative Advisor Hans Reitz. During these two days we have been able to catch up on the current situation on our planet and what challenges arise for the coming years, both for companies and for third sector entities.
From Social Business City Barcelona, we want to highlight five sentences that Muhammad Yunus mentioned during the congress and that summarize well the challenges for the coming years:
“We are in a very serious situation. Therefore, we will work hard, all together”.
Professor Yunus began the day with this sentence. Highlighting that the current situation is serious and that our commitment as a society is to work together to improve it.
“You have the power. Use it. Be aware of it. Use every bit of it to create the world as you want it to be”
Yunnus challenged young people at the Young Challengers & Pioneers Meeting showing the great opportunity they have to use all their power to build the world they want it to become.
“We can’t wait for Fridays anymore. We need every moment for future!”
He exclaimed, supporting the Fridays for future movement and positioning himself in favor of the fact that it should not only be Fridays, but every day.
“At the end of our road is a cliff. If we keep driving this way, we’re all going to fall. We need a U-turn.”
If we continue along the path in which we are immersed, we will fall. That is why one of the great challenges as a society is to be able to turn around and rectify the path.
“We will define the new civilization: the world of 3 zeros. Zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon emissions.”
The world of the 3 zeros: Zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero emissions. This is the model that Yunus defends to define the new civilization
